The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education proudly offers it's modern and comprehensive Orton-Gillingham workshops for general classroom teachers. We have found general classroom teachers eagerly seek out our staff development training in Orton-Gillingham methodology because it gives them the special tools to work with student who's reading skills place them in the bottom third of their class. Research shows that children who have difficulty learning how to read quickly fall behind in all their classes. And it is sad that 50% of them never catch up. In addition the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education offers staff development workshops in updated and comprehensive Orton-Gillingham for special ed. teachers, paraprofessionals, and tutors. IMSE also is involved with development of literacy curriculum.
At this time, we also offer an Orton-Gillingham program we sell to concerned parents who wish to tutor their children in reading skills in the homeschool setting. This product is the same highly structured, multi-sensory, and phonics based tutorial used by special education instructors. It is called "Sensational Strategies for Teaching Beginning Readers." Parents have noted great success with this program. Parent will see their children quickly acquire the reading skills they need to succeed.
Government Title 1 funds are applicable to teacher development programs offered by the IMSE. The Institute emphasizes the importance of early intervention. When students enter the third grade, the Institute wants all the children reading at grade level. We regularly customize our staff development workshops to the special needs of each individual school district. The Institute for Multi-Sensory Education's updated and comprehensive Orton-Gillingham methods are the answer for remediation of at risk students. IMSE's adaption of Orton-Gillingham for the general classroom is the answer for giving assistance to children who are below grade level or who have dyslexia, learning disabilities, or other problems with learning to read. The Institute for Multi-Sensory's training programs are easily adapted to work in conjunction with your current reading curriculum.
